Field Level Access Right Control
Field Level Access Control supports field-level access control, letting you define exactly which groups can view or edit each field within an object.
How it works
Access permissions are set per field inside the Object Builder. Each field has two independent controls — one for viewing and one for editing — plus a Lock Behavior setting that determines whether the field can be changed when the object is locked.
How to configure field access
Step 1: Open Custom Objects
Go to Settings
Click Custom Objects
Find the object you want to configure and click Edit
Step 2: Set permissions per field
In the Object Builder, locate the field you want to control. For each field:
Who can view this field? - select which groups can see this field
Who can edit this field? - select which groups can make changes to this field
Lock Behavior - choose one of the following:
Respect Lock Status - the field follows the object's lock state and cannot be edited when the object is locked
Always Editable - the field remains editable regardless of the object's lock state
Step 3: Save
Click Update Custom Object to apply the changes.
View and edit permissions are independent — a group can be allowed to view a field without being able to edit it
If no restrictions are set, all users can view and edit the field by default
Lock Behavior applies when an object is locked by a workflow or status change (e.g., when a deal is marked as Won)
